Earier today the Chicago Bulls announced that power forward Bobby Portis was diagnosed with a moderate MCL sprain in his right knee and will be out four to six weeks.
K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune initially reported that Portis was expected to be on the shelf for at least a month. He sustained the injury Wednesday night in the fourth quarter of the Bulls’ game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Portis is the latest addition to the Bulls m.a.s.h. unit that also includes Lauri Markkanen, who has been since before the season started out with an elbow sprain and point guard Kris Dunn who is also out four to six weeks with a MCL sprain.
Before getting hurt, Portis had been averaging a double-double with 10.5 points and 10.0 rebounds, along with 1.0 blocks per game.
